Many of you have enjoyed state parks across Florida. You might know that they are legacies of the Great Depression.

We’ve talked about the Works Progress Administration program that led to the WPA Guide to Florida. At the same time, the Civilian Conservation Corps, a New Deal effort to put millions of people back to work, was busy in Florida as well.

From 1933 to 1943, the CCC employed more than 49,000 people in Florida alone. Most of the veterans are gone now, but when I wrote about the project in April 1988, officials estimated Florida had some 200,000 CCC veterans who had worked across the country as youths.

First, the bad news: Scusi, the PGA Boulevard trattoria opened by star chef Laurent Tourondel in late 2019, has permanently closed. The good news? Prezzo, the iconic 90s-era Italian restaurant revived in Boca Raton four years ago by restaurateur Burt Rapoport, will take over the space.

Prezzo is expected to open this fall at the PGA Commons plaza in the space that housed Vic and Angelo’s for 14 years before it welcomed Scusi.

How Do Homebuilders Price Houses in Today’s Hot Real Estate Market?

The registration program would require rental owners to pay $450 each year to register their rental homes with the
