As the market begins to shift like the tide, so can your motivation... and when that happens - the struggles of a realtor to succeed ensues.

As much as we want to always be our own hero -- no one ever gets to the top alone. And why would you want to? It always more fun to share the view with someone else.

As it has been mentioned time and time again -- there truly is power in numbers and teamwork does go a long way.

Have an Accountability Partner

What is an accountability partner?

An accountability partner is a colleague or business associate who works to ensure that you can meet certain targets. In this situation, they may monitor your progress towards these goals over an extended time period and recommend improved working practices if you're progressing too slowly. They could also provide moral or practical support during stressful periods to help you to identify solutions to obstacles more quickly. As they're often experienced professionals, these individuals can offer useful insight into the responsibilities involved in managing a complex project.

With the year already being 3 quarters of the way over - the best way to ensure that you achieve your real estate goals in 2022 (if you haven't already)  is to share them with someone who will keep you accountable. Someone who will push you, motivate you and hold you to your goals and get you through the last leg of the year.  Think of it as “Goal Insurance”.

Just when you think - "you got this" - doubt can creep in and that's when we become our own worst critic -- but an accountability partner could be just what you need to help you cross that finish line and reach your goals.   Often times it is easier for others to see our full potential and more often then none, they are only too happy to cheer us on from the sidelines.  Don't go it alone, if you don't have to.  Reach out and find someone that you know will not let you fall, the same way you would reach out to a personal trainer if you needed to hit that certain mark on the scale.

Keep in mind - when choosing an accountability partner - why not choose a colleague that you can also mentor from and shadow off of while they are holding you accountable? If they are leading in their numbers and deals, why not let them be an educator and a guide to get you to where you want to be?  There is that saying ...

Surround yourself with who you want to be.

Thinking outside the box - there are also other ways you can utilize your accountability partner such as allowing them to act as a buffer in networking situations, where you might seem uncomfortable. Having someone there to keep you accountable is much like having a security blanket. It can feel calming to know that you have someone there to turn to and to bounce ideas off of.  Especially in a social setting, your "buffer" might help ease you into an opening conversation with a potential client.

In the real estate in industry - networking is a key ingredient in being successful and if you are not comfortable in that setting, you will be setting yourself up for failure. Perhaps your accountability partner is more outgoing and/or they have more connections that could get your foot in the right door. So no matter how you look at it, you can't go wrong.

Choose a partner who has strengths to your weaknesses.  Someone who will push you to make that extra cold call, or cause you to knock on that closed door.  Someone who might inspire you to create more content on social media or will help remind you that you are that much closer to your goals.

At the end of the day - all you need to do is ask a fellow agent or a good friend to check in with you on your daily and weekly goals.

This added accountability will help you achieve your goals and could be the one thing that pushes you to more appointments, listings, and commissions than you planned!
